COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocol Updates at SAP Center

SAN JOSE, CA – In accordance with an updated Health and Safety Directive mandated by the State of California for “mega-events” that include concerts, sporting events and other shows, Sharks Sports & Entertainment (SSE) announced updates to its guest participation policy to SAP Center in San José (@SAP Center).

As of Thursday, December 9, 2021, all guests between the ages of 3 and 11 who visit the SAP Center in San Jose must be fully immunized or show proof of a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. As announced in August, all customers aged 12 and over must still show full proof of vaccination upon entry. These requirements will remain in place until national and local health and safety guidelines are revised.

The updated mandate, which was recently announced by the State of California, affects events held in indoor venues statewide with attendance levels of 1,000 or more guests. The first event at the SAP Center in San Jose to be affected by the new policy is the San Jose Sharks home game on Thursday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m., when the team hosts the Minnesota Wild.

Events held before December 9 are subject to current policy, which states that all guests 12 years of age or older must show full proof of vaccination to attend an event at the SAP Center. The time-limited exception applies to the Sharks’ home game against the Calgary Flames tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. (Tuesday, December 7).

To avoid unnecessary delays, SSE recommends that customers between the ages of 3 and 11 receive a negative COVID-19 test result before arriving at the SAP Center. To schedule a COVID-19 test in Santa Clara County in advance, please click HERE. For the convenience of customers aged 3 to 11, SSE has partnered with Total Testing Solutions to provide free onsite COVID-19 testing at the SAP Center. Total Testing Solutions testing at the SAP Center will begin approximately one hour before the doors open on the day of the event.

SSE has also partnered with CLEAR and its Health Pass technology to provide customers with a transparent and convenient process for showing full proof of vaccination. For details on current safety protocols and transparent verification of vaccine and / or test results via CLEAR’s health passport, please visit www.sapcenter.com/vaccination. All the details on the safety instructions in force are available on www.sapcenter.com/safety.

For the purposes of CLEAR, based on current sanitary guidelines, guests of the SAP Center are organized into four groups:

  • All customers aged 14 and over: Each guest must create a CLEAR Health Pass account and add their proof of vaccination. If a minor does not have a mobile device capable of accessing CLEAR, the adult or guardian of this minor must provide physical proof of the minor’s vaccination status in the establishment. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical CDC vaccination card or digital vaccination record, which can be found at mondossiervaccin.cdph.ca.gov.
  • All customers aged 12 and 13: Current City of San Jose health protocols require that all guests aged 12 and over be vaccinated to attend an event with more than 50 people at a city-owned facility. Due to current best practices, CLEAR does not provide Health Passes for 12 and 13 year olds. Thus, adults or guardians with minors aged 12 or 13 will be required to provide physical proof of the minor’s vaccination status in the establishment. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical CDC vaccination card or digital vaccination record, which can be found at mondossiervaccin.cdph.ca.gov.
  • All customers aged 3 to 11: As of December 9, proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test will be required to enter SAP Center in San Jose. Acceptable forms of proof of vaccination include a physical vaccination card from the CDC or a digital vaccination record which can be found at mondossiervaccin.cdph.ca.gov. Acceptable forms or proof of a negative Covid-19 test result include a physical or digital negative COVID-19 test result that shows the name of the person taking the test and the date of administration.
  • All customers aged 2 and under: Currently, there are no requirements related to vaccine status and / or proof of a negative COVID-19 test for clients 2 years of age and under.

Guests must create a CLEAR Health Pass at least 24 hours prior to the event they will attend at the SAP Center in San Jose.
